Ni Brel Ni Barbara

On stage, two artists are working on their new stage work: a tribute to Jacques Brel and Barbara, two luminaries of the chanson française. As soon as they get to work, they realize that their views are different. One almost absorbs Barbara, the other resolutely rejects even the slightest imitation of Brel. The result is a lively musical and theatrical debate between piano and coffee machine, between theatre and chanson: imitate or create something new?

Inspired and carried by the songs of Brel and Barbara, the two artists stand by their own selves. But their confusion remains: epochs merge and roles overlap. But the two artists are "neither Brel nor Barbara".

A musical theatre as a hymn to the self-image – or in other words: external image. And a tribute to the friendship between Brel and Barbara. Thanks to a careful lighting creation and a humorous staging, the audience is constantly transported from one world to another. Between yesterday and today, memory and reality.
