When Otis Sandsjö, initiator and mastermind behind the band Y-OTIS, moved from his Swedish homeland to Berlin, he already had his cross-genre and forward-looking liquid jazz in his luggage. Sandsjö's sound mosaic effortlessly combines elements of hip-hop, electronic or jazz to form a complex sound fabric. After the highly acclaimed debut album from 2018, he presented the follow-up Y-Otis 2 in 2020 - also produced by Petter Eldh and released on the Finnish label We Jazz Records. Sandsjö's hypnotic saxophone riffs, strong melodies and flowing funk beats come together here to create a very personally fragmented jazz style. According to the broadcaster Deutschlandfunk Kultur, he is one of the most interesting European jazz musicians of the younger generation.
