«Puccini und Rossini» – Chorkonzert

They share the middle name Antonio, were born on the almost identical longitude and were strongly hedonistic. Rossini with a penchant for the culinary arts, Puccini with a penchant for tobacco products and fast cars. They became famous as opera composers and with important works such as The Barber of Seville or La Bohème, which earned them a place among the greatest artists of their time. Less well known, but just as worth listening to, are their sacred masterpieces, in which the dramatic skill of both composers can be heard in a sacred context. Giacomo Puccini came from a family of church musicians and created the Messa di Gloria as well as the Preludio Sinfonico at a young age at the end of his studies. Meanwhile, Rossini's Stabat Mater is a late work and was not completed until many years after his last opera. The spectacular program will be performed by the choir of the Chorwoche Chur 2025, which will prepare for the three final concerts in Chur, Bern and Zurich for a week under the renewed direction of Patrick Secchiari.
