In the book "Questions would I still have", published by Rotpunktverlag Zurich, thirty authors from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, writers, but also people from other professions, talk about the lives of their grandfathers and grandmothers in the eventful 20th century. The memories from the grandchildren's point of view show the emotional, sometimes traumatic reverberations across generational boundaries. The result is a collection of very personal stories that get under your skin and cannot be found in any history book.

At the Literaturhaus Chur, their stories will be read by the Graubünden writer Romana Ganzoni, the author and historian Christian Ruch and the actor and editor of the book Wolfram Schneider-Lastin.

At the beginning of #BELCANTO SOUNDSYSTEM is the invitation to the artists Jannik Giger, SOLAND ANGEL and Hannah Weinberger to compose a new work each for the wind quintet of the ENSEMBLE TZARA and a loudspeaker tower.

#BELCANTO SOUNDSYSTEM, curated by Benedikt Wyss, combines visual arts, new music and pop. The three-part live performance opens up the space for an immersive sound experience between man and machine.

"FANTANZIA" is a danced fantasy fairy tale. The audience is taken on a dance-like, adventurous journey through fantastic worlds on a mission to free Harmonia, the muse of music and dance. A full-length performance of modern stage dance. A moving story for young and old, especially suitable for families with children. A varied, spectacular  2.5-hour  show awaits you. Doors open and simple meals 1 hour before the start, refreshments during the break.

A concentrated load of contemporary dance: hip-hop, modern dance, children's dance, teensdance, and modern jazz dance combined with visualizations by Baier Lighting enchant all spectators young and old.

A competition for top Swiss brass bands in Graubünden, inspired by the British Brass in Concert, which has been in existence since 1977. The competition is aimed at brass bands from the 1st class to the highest class according to the latest ranking of the Swiss Brass Band Competition.

Participating artists: GR Brass; Oberaargauer Brass Band; Liberty Brass Band; Brass Band Eglisau; Universal Brass Band Wil; MG Risch-Rotkreuz

Each band plays a self-contained program, which must meet the following criteria:

- Only original works or high-quality arrangements for brass band
- a solo piece (winds or percussion)
- one test piece approx. 5 min (commissioned composition identical for all bands)
- Duration of the program 30 - 35 min

An open jury of two experts evaluates the musical achievements in three different categories:

- Best overall musical performance
- Best test piece
- Best Soloist

A juror, together with the audience, evaluates the factor of entertainment, content and creativity. The vote of the audience at 50% and the juror at 50% then results in the prize:

- Best entertainment program

The overall winner of the competition is determined by the following factors:

- Sum of the two jurors for the overall musical performance (max. 200 points)
- Sum of audience and juror: entertainment program and creativity (max. 100 points)

The first weekend in November 2025 falls on both the Catholic holidays of All Saints/All Souls' Day and Reformation Day. The Bach-Verein Chur takes this into account with the Reformation anthem "Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott" BWV 80 and the funeral cantata BWV 106 "Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit", also known as "Actus tragicus". This cantata by the composer, who was probably only 22 years old at the time of its composition, is one of his most important works. Alfred Dürr describes the cantata in his book as "a work of genius, such as even great masters rarely succeed in. The link between these two very contrasting cantatas is BWV 139 "Wohl dem, der sich auf seinen Gott".

The Association
Committed musicians came together in Chur in 2019 to perform works by Johann Sebastian Bach. After successful first concerts, the Bach-Verein Chur was founded in the sense of a support association. This has set itself the goal of rehearsing concerts with music by J. S. Bach every year and, if possible, taking local musicians into account. From initial ripiano tasks, a 25-member choir of advanced amateur singers has been formed. The soloist and instrumental ensemble has been able to establish itself over the years. To date, the Bach-Verein Chur has performed 21 Bach cantatas. At the beginning of April 2022, the "St. John Passion", one of the most important works of church music, was on the program. In addition to the two usual concert weekends in Chur and the surrounding area, an engagement on October 27, 2024 also took our ensemble to Weiningen ZH - where a kind of "best-of" from our previous programs of recent years was heard.
