Women's Choir fémina's

A group of women who are enthusiastic about singing made a virtue out of the necessity that there is a lack of male voices in many mixed choirs. Without further ado, they founded a women's choir - the ensemble fémina's was born. A conductor was also quickly found in Andrés Alonso Heredia. Under his leadership, fémina's was also able to envisage larger projects. The most recent is the Messe brève by the French composer Léo Delibes, who is otherwise best known for his ballets. The program is complemented by sacred songs from the Delibes period, sung by the soprano Johanna Heim. The accompanist on the organ is house organist Stephan Thomas.

Jesus Sampedro Márquez, Seville

For the first time, an organist from Spain will be a guest at the Chur Organ Concerts: Jesus Sampedro Márquez comes from Sevillla, where he is professor of organ at the Conservatory. The internationally active concert organist is coming to Chur as part of a small Swiss tour. Here he shows that Spanish organ music is not limited to the well-known Renaissance and Baroque music, but also has a lot to offer in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Jesus Sampedro presents works by Eduardo Torres, Manuel Font de Anta and Jesus Guridi; works by Davide da Bergamo and Johann Sebastian Bach will be performed.

Recital Matthias Grünert, Dresden
"Romantic soundscapes"

The church where Matthias Grünert works as organist and cantor is world-famous: the Frauenkirche in Dresden, one of the city's most important cultural attractions. It was destroyed during the war, left in ruins for a long time as a memorial and later reconstructed. Its newly built organ is based on the organ of Johann Gottfried Sibermann, which was also lost in the war.

Grünert, who comes from Nuremberg, has already had the opportunity to perform in front of important personalities from Barack Obama to Pope Francis. His Chur programme includes works by J.G. Rheinberger, F. Mendelssohn Bartholdy and E.F. Richter.

Recital Christoph Schönfelder, St. Gallen

It was curious to see who would win the race for the prestigious position of organist at St.Gallen Cathedral. It was the young Christoph Schönfelder, who came from Landshut. He convinces not only with his somnambulistically assured literary playing, but also as a gifted improviser. Last but not least, Schönfelder is a sought-after pedagogue. With his election to St.Gallen, he moved from the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich to the Dözesane Kirchenmusikschule St.Gallen. The highlight of his Chur concert will be the two movements from Marcel Dupré's "Symphony Passion", as well as the classic "Prélude et fugue sur le nom d'Alain" by Maurice Duruflé. Schönfelder also plays works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Oskar Sigmund.

Organ and wine with the Heger winery

The "Organ and Wine" format remains a constant at the Chur Organ Concerts. This year, an internationally renowned winery - and one of the best in Germany - could be won for Chur: The Dr. Joachim Heger winery in Ihringen am Kaiserstuhl.

This is accompanied by organ music coordinated with the wines, played by Stephan Thomas. The event will be moderated by journalist David Sieber, wine connoisseur and former editor-in-chief of Südostschweiz. The concert and discussion will take place in St. Martin's Church, after which the Heger wines can be tasted in the garden of the Antistitium (Kirchgasse 12).

Recital Marc Fitze, Bern
«The Four Elements»

After a start with chamber music, the Chur Organ Concerts offer the first recital of this year. Our guest is Marc Fitze, organist at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Bern.

Fitze never ceases to amaze with his versatility: he is not only a concerting musician, improviser and arranger, but also one of the few specialists in the field of harmonium playing. He is also a lecturer at the Bern Conservatory and is a member of the board of the Jehan Alain Society for the legacy of the great organist and composer.

He based his Chur concert on the motto "The Four Elements".
Works by S. Karg-Elert, C. Debussy, M. de Falla, J. Alain, Fr. Chapelet,
l. Vierne as well as improvisations.

Stephan Thomas, organ

Pipes, keys, buttons, winding corridors – the organ is a fantastic creature that fascinates young and old. It is precisely the view into the interior, which is only possible on special occasions, that reveals the extraordinary diversity and complexity of this organism. During the guided tour of the St. Martin's organ, children can play the organ, take a short trip into the belly of the instrument, blow into organ pipes and much more. Parents are also welcome.

Mila - in her early forties, accustomed to success - spends a summer at home. What was supposed to be a productive time-out actually turns out to be an existential crisis. Mila is on leave from her management position. If she wants to keep her job, she has to undergo coaching. A time of relentless challenge begins. It is questioned, questions itself and increasingly loses its orientation. Instead of thinking about her professional future, she observes and eavesdrops on Misha, the little boy who has moved into the apartment above her with his father and speaks the language of her childhood.

"A story about language, severed roots and buried life dreams, about origin and identity, and about the fear of missing out on one's own life."

Barbara Pallecchi, born in 1963 in what is now the Czech Republic, grew up in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley, studied psychology and pedagogy at the University of Zurich. Today, she accompanies people with mental illnesses on their way back to work. She lives in Zurich and Chur and often writes in Savognin.
