Skatepark «Betongarta» Obere Au
Skatepark at Obere Au sports facilities.

Description

The skate park "Betongarta" at Obere Au Chur is surrounded by trees and green areas and fits seamlessly into the riverbank of the adjoining and meanwhile renaturalised Mühlbach stream. Sportsmen and sportswomen refresh themselves at the drinking fountain and then sit at a sunny spot on the banks of the Mühlbach stream. The skate park is an important addition to the leisure facilities in the Obere Au sports facilities and thus also for the city of Chur.

The skate park is suitable for skateboards, inline skates,  BMX bikes and scooters and is illuminated in the evening.

Art Gallery Chur

Home Ground «Polar Bear» Graffiti

Home Ground «Eisbär» Graffiti
This graffiti artwork was created at the 1st StreetArtFestival.ch in Chur and is entitled «Home Ground».

Description

The Swiss NEVERCREW continues their tradition of painting meaningful murals that go beyond just being aesthetic. At the first StreetArtFestival.ch in Chur, the duo created their mural «Home Ground». With the local traditions and events playing a fundamental role in their concept, their common bear motif returned in a red and blue base of color. Their use of the symbolic target, again drew a crowd of wonderers and thought provokers. It is therefore about the sharing of natural resources and land between humankind and the other natural beings, about the balance in this cohabitation and about the meaning of borders and ownership if seen from a natural point of view and not perceived only from the human perspective. With their confidence in large spaces, the Montana GOLD and emulsion paint, blended together for a seamless finish.

With the StreetArtFestival Chur project, the Association for Urban Culture in Graubünden wants to make a new contemporary art form accessible to the public. At the first event in 2018, the mural "Home Ground", a large-scale work of art, was already realised. Further events are in the planning stage.

The scent of freshly mown grass makes the field sports athlete's heart beat faster.

Description

The grass pitches are open from March to October (except July) and can also be hired for private tournaments. Pitches 2-5 have recently been newly constructed. Field No. 1 including the newly built grand stand are in use since May 2025.

Field sports stadium
The stadium offers space for a total of around 1,500 spectators - 980 of whom are seated in the city colours of red, white and black. The stadium is designed to meet the needs of football and American football. The main pitch directly in front of the stands can accommodate both sports with flexible pitch markings as required. The entire infrastructure is geared towards the 1st league. Access is from the landscaped forecourt, which is located between the new buildings of the ice sports training stadium, the grass sports stadium and the skate park. Visitors to the field sports stadium reach their seats via the side entrances from where they can either access the stands or the standing steps opposite.

The field sports stadium creates an efficient infrastructure for popular sports as well as for ambitious club sports and offers optimal training and competition conditions. Six team changing rooms with sanitary facilities and additional separate referee changing rooms, spacious equipment storage and club facilities are located in the building. A total of eight pitches can be played on - five of which are natural grass and three artificial turf pitches. This infrastructure is available for school, club and recreational sports.

With three artificial turf pitches, five natural grass pitches, 20 field sports changing rooms and the new stadium, the facility is the largest grass sports centre in the canton of Graubünden and one of the most important in eastern Switzerland, second only to St. Gallen. The new infrastructure has given field sports in Chur a modern and sustainable home.
