Chur's history of wine-growing reaches back 2000 years. It was the Romans who brought vines from southern Europe to the province of Rhaetia. Documents from the 12th to the 14th century are evidence that the vines were thriving throughout the Middle Ages and that there were extensive vineyards at the foot of Calanda.

The so-called "Neubruchtorkel", built in 1582, houses the biggest wine press in eastern Switzerland with a 14.5-metre-long cross beam from 1609. Since 1984 the wine press functions as a museum exhibiting the rich wine culture of Chur. The documentary film "From Vine to Wine" depicts the year of a vintner.  Booking is required.

The wine museum is also a perfect venue for social events like company socials, family gatherings, birthdays and reunions, but also cultural events like readings or workshops.

Chur Röteli, one of Graubünden’s oldest specialities, has been produced by the Ullius family in Chur for over a century. They foster the age-old tradition of making this cherry liqueur with loving care and skilled craftsmanship. It is based on a recipe that found its way into the hands of the drugstore family generations ago and over the years has been continually refined. Visit the production site in the heart of Chur’s Old Town and learn all kinds of fascinating information about the production and history of Chur Röteli.

At the transition from sheep pastures to the hilly woodland of Ils Aults above Domat/Ems is where you'll find it: Gion A. Caminada's forest hut Tegia da vaut. It is a simple structure that blends in with its location and surroundings. From a distance, only one facade of the forest hut offset with larch shingles can be seen between the mighty pines and firs of the surrounding forest. It looks as if the hut were hiding in the shelter of the forest. The shape is reminiscent of an ark gliding through the sea of fir trees. The forest lodge is primarily used as a schoolroom in the forest, but can also be rented for events.

This is where the first bus stop of the second stage of the Flowtour Graubünden from Chur to Flims Waldhaus is located.
