The postal bus station at Chur train station is one of the city's most striking buildings. The imposing glass dome has been built in 1993 by architects Richard Brosi and Robert Obrist, provides shelter for passengers and buses in all weathers and serves as a starting point for many interesting rides aboard the yellow buses. At night, the structure is illuminated by spotlights, lighting up the centre of Chur. There is also a gently domed glass and steel structure over the platforms of Chur station. In its appearance, the 300 m long span of the unsupported glass roof is reminiscent of railway halls from the 19th century.

Large and grey, yet friendly - that sums up the building constructed by St. Moritz architect Nicolaus Hartmann between 1907 und 1910. While its grey, starkly structured façades give the building a majestic appearance, thanks to its large forecourt it is not overpowering. The architecture is an expression of the so-called "Bündner Heimatstil", a movement that took up and developed the traditional style of building of the region. The prestigious yet agreeable administration building is regarded as one of the movement's most significant works.

The new pedestrian connection in Chur not only bridges the difference in height between the Plessur and Halde school grounds, but turns it into an eventful path with a rapid succession of views of the cathedral, the old town, the mountains, and the Plessur and Rhine Valleys.
Although the connection leads under a road, it runs above ground as much as possible, closely following the slope of the topography and thus giving you the feeling of being «in the countryside». Most of the structure touches the rock, is carved out of the rock, or lies snug against the rock. The roof over this massive base is made of weather-proof steel.

Sometimes, politics and theatre seem to be the same. But in Chur they only share the same roof: the Grand Council Building houses both the municipal theatre and the Grand Council. The entrance was redesigned by architect Valerio Olgiati in 2008/2009. He named the white concrete extension «Equiliber». It consists of a ramp with a roof and a disc as a column element. The ramp has the same dimensions and proportions as the base of the Grand Council building; at the same time it is the base for the roof. The approximately ninety ton canopy seems to balance on a slightly in-turned disc in the form of a crest.

With its central location at Postplatz, the Chur City Library is a place of encounter, exchange and learning. The library offers a modern infrastructure: self-checkout, return machine, workstations with Internet access and free Wi-Fi throughout the building. The range of books and audio books in various languages, magazines, films, music CDs, digital media, games and playground equipment is large and is constantly updated. The City Library also includes the Ludothek and the interactive library Vossa Lingua.  

Lounges and an event room for 70 people invite you to read, linger, exchange ideas, attend events and workshops. As an additional service, a postal agency is integrated into the library. 

The shopping mall includes a large Coop supermarket, a Coop restaurant and 7 other shops. 

The Police Museum in Chur shows how organised units of gamekeepers of the 19th century developed into the canton’s current, multi-role police force. The story is illustrated with historical objects such as uniforms and arms, along with burglars’ break-in implements, money smugglers’ false-bottomed suitcases and murder weapons. Many of these original objects are linked to historical crimes, or bear direct witness to spectacular occurrences and important events in the history of the canton’s police force. The “police cinema” exhibits short films on the history of the force and its day-to-day work. Exhibits relating to the fight against narcotics are likewise on display in the museum.

 Designed as an educational centre, the exhibition depicts the history of Earth and humankind until the Roman age. The respective eras are introduced and illustrated by numerous exhibits. In addition to fossils, there original artefacts, faithful reproductions and casts of objects ranging from the Ice Age to the Roman period. Ethnographic objects allow for cross-cultural comparison, for example with Papua New Guinea or Tibet. 

Great emphasis is placed on making history come alive. Thus, the prehistory exhibition is perfectly suited for schools. The museum also provides teaching materials about ancient and prehistoric history. A teaching kit about Rome is available for school teachers.
