Chur Cathedral, the sacred centre of one of the oldest dioceses in Switzerland, was built as a Romanesque basilica in the 12th/13th century on the foundations of its older predecessors.

You will be guided through the cathedral with its rich furnishings from numerous eras by Manuel Janosa, who accompanied the last restoration from 2003-07 and who will give you an understanding of the current, previously unpublished state of research.

The Argentinian singer and composer Luciana Morelli, who lives in Basel, impressively combines her roles as performer, composer and arranger. Poems set to music find their musical expression in Morelli's creative arrangements, and her expressive voice seduces the audience with soundscapes ranging from Argentine folk music to classical music and jazz.

The double bassist, singer and composer Louise Knobil invites you into her universe: jazz, punk, glitter and French chanson, inspired by symbolic figures such as Esperanza Spalding, Charles Mingus or Boris Vian. Cheeky melodies in which double bass and voice mix tell of polyamory, chronic insomnia and pesto recipes – a unique musical adventure.

The band around saxophonist Gianna Lavarini met at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and completes itself with Till Santschi on bass and Jason Nordemann on drums. The trio primarily plays original compositions by all members; sometimes groovy, sometimes melodious. The band plays its debut at the JazzChurFestival, reinforced by the Graubünden singer Anna Bläsi with her wonderful voice.

With "Cleo", Lea Maria Fries presents a contemporary and thematically highly topical work. The eleven compositions describe her personal journey and are an honest examination of the world and herself. Arranged by Julien Herné and illustrated by some of the finest musicians on the French jazz scene, the "Cleo" sounds sensitive, powerful, fresh and surprising.

The duo "Training", which has been in existence since 2019, enters into a collaboration with the celebrated electric bassist Ruth Goller. The band collectively creates a new, energetic music: meandering grooves, instrumental-vocal nesting, expressive training sessions, weightless unison melodies – created with the help of the composition method "Cadavre Exquis".

Anthems for the limitless - with this claim, the four have set to work to conceive a new album. Ganesh Geymeier is sometimes Coltrane (Alice and John), sometimes Lomax (Alan) and Bowles (Paul), sometimes Parker (Charlie or Evan) when he docks his saxophone to his backpack or to the memories archived on his laptop. Geymeier is a composer, companion, improviser and archivist who draws his strength from the refusal to pigeonhole the characteristics.

Pietre (Steine) is the chordless quartet led by bassist Alessandro Fongaro, known for his work with Sun-Mi Hong, Ambergris and the Brainteaser Orchestra. Pietre is a cry to live again, to love again. The two saxophonists show an impressive range, carried by a closely intertwined interplay of double bass and drums.

The jam session allows professionals and amateurs alike to present themselves, try out new things and cultivate the fun and joy of playing together without much concert pressure. At the same time, they promote networking and dialogue on an artistic and interpersonal level. JazzChur also cultivates the long-standing jazz tradition - which can be experienced by musicians and audiences alike.

The house band opens the evening with a small concert. At the subsequent jam session, the members of the house band accompany the participating musicians or make room at their instruments.

Expand signals the expansion of the band into a transatlantic quintet, walking between advanced pop and vocal jazz as skilfully as stylistically confident.

For Valeria, tempo is much more than a pacemaker: it controls energy, changes perception and influences the emotional tension between stage and audience. The Gabriele Pezzoli Trio around the pianist of the same name from Lausanne plays their own compositions, complemented by selected pieces from contemporary jazz. The sound of the ensemble is shaped as much by the community within the band as by the individual expression of the three musicians. The trio has its fourth album "June", which will be released at the beginning of 2025, in its luggage.

The trio - nominated for the German Jazz Prize in 2023 - plays with influences from classical modernism, minimalism and modern jazz. Gaudy songs, lots of fun and colourful hustle and bustle – the most famous girl with the red braids is celebrating her birthday! Pippi and her friends will return to the Swiss stages again from October 2025.

For her birthday, Pippi has invited her friends Tommy and Annika. Together they experience shipwreck, search for ghosts in the attic of Villa Villekulla and eat the world's very best birthday cake. But what do the two crooks Blom and Donner-Karlsson want? Wishing Pippi a happy birthday? Or maybe steal Pippi's suitcase with gold coins?

A colourful, exciting stage spectacle with great music and fabulous performers. Great fun for young and old, wonderfully staged by Brigitt Maag.
