Am Tisch: Weltgebetstag mit Imbiss

Nigeria on the west coast of Africa is the most populous country in Africa with around 230 million inhabitants. It is characterized by great ethnic, linguistic and religious diversity: In addition to over 250 ethnic groups, the majority of Muslims live in the north, while Christianity and traditional religions are particularly widespread in the south.

This diversity is reflected in rich culture, textiles, music, dance, storytelling traditions, literature and an internationally renowned film industry. History since independence in 1960 has been overshadowed by conflicts such as the Biafra War and violence by Boko Haram. Despite individual women in influential positions, many women's rights have not yet been realized.

Nigerian women report on this in the current liturgy. Under the motto "I want to strengthen you, come!", they talk about their burdens and how they find new strength in faith. The artist Gift Amarachi Ottah takes up this theme impressively in the cover picture "Rest for the Exhausted".
